and this will be the last one until spring. It has been a busy time. When Hurricane Fiona hit Prince Edward Island, we didn’t know what to expect. There has never been a weather event like this before.
We were lucky and escaped damage. Like many others we did not have electricity for a few days but since ours came on earlier than others, we made our facilities available for those needing water or a shower.
The scenery has changed with so many trees down, but the warmth and hospitality of Islanders has not changed. We will be open for most of the winter, and we really look forward to hosting guests over the next few months. We have had beautiful weather and although some trails are still being cleared, there are now some open for hiking and biking. We also hope to see some cross-country skiers and snowmobilers once the snow hits the ground. Then you can come and cozy up in one of our suites. They will be warm and still have beautiful views of St. Peter’s.
Exciting news! The little convenience store across the road from us is now open so you can get whatever you need there and of course there are restaurants open within 15 minutes each way in Souris or Morell. We haven’t seen our family for years now so we will be taking a few weeks off to go to China later. This will be like a mini vacation for us after the exciting last few months. It has been a whirlwind! Thanks to our community and our guests, it has been very rewarding!
Until the next time,
Liling
